Stormflux January 2020 Patch Notes:

Bandages

We are formally introducing the Bandage healing system into Stormflux this event. This is a way for every player to freely access basic restoration.

Prop Requirements

Bandage props should be at least 36” long and at least 2” wide to meet the RP requirements for tan average wrist. If you wish to tie Bandages on legs or upper arms, it is advised you make your Bandages 48” to meet the RP requirement.

Standard gauze rolls and ace bandages can suffice but it is recommended that you cut several Bandages from one roll. Muslin is a cheap and durable alternative and can be found at most fabric stores.

Roleplay Requirements

Bandages must make 3 full revolutions around a limb and be tied off securely so that there is minimal trailing cloth. The medic must audibly call Heal 1 with Daze. Bandages tied on a player or NPC cannot be grabbed or held without getting Permission to Roughhouse. You may have any number of bandage props on your person, but each bandage may only be used once per encounter.

First Aid Specialist Patterns

Players will be able to purchase First Aid Codified Patterns to expand their bandaging skills.

A NOTE ON [Medical Training]: It grants an additional RP option for medics to “refresh” their bandages. In order to reuse a bandage, its owner must completely reroll the bandage and place it in a designated first aid pouch, pocket, or bag. There is no limit to how many first aid stores you can have but each must be marked with a red “plus” or similar insignia. Non-medicinal things should not be stored with your prepared bandages. That’s nasty.

Cleanse Bandages and Color Coding

Patterns like [Medical Training] that allow you to reuse Bandages apply to specialist bandages as well. Patterns that reference Cleanse will require specific colors. The list of effects and colors are as such:

Panic = Orange

Slow = Dark Blue

Weakness = Purple

Beckon = Dark Green

Silence = Pink

Constructs

We are consolidating monster types.  Golems, Mechana, and Poppets are all now considered Constructs.  Sub-divisions of constructs are determined by essences - petrified or glacial constructs are generally golems, scrap constructs are mechana, and poppets are related to ephemeral essences (umbral, tempestuous, etc).

Negate

We’re changing the term Absorb.  The new term is Negate. We find the new term easier to say and more intuitive. There is no functional change between Absorb and Negate.  If a monster calls “Negate”, they are spending a resource and you should keep hitting them! If the monster can passively stop damage, they will continue to say “Immune”.

New Casting Support Patterns

In addition to the new First Aid patterns, we have created new Codified patterns that expand on the casting styles. CLICK HERE FOR CASTING SUPPORT CODIFIED PATTERNS:

McGuffin Tag

We are introducing a new tag called a “McGuffin Tag”. These tags will be used to indicate items that are significant to a specific plot. We want to ensure that significant items acquired through plot are properly tracked. These tags will help assist staff in coordinating use of these items between plots.

For 2020:

We will be reviewing our balance between roles to ensure that there is an equal spread of appeal and content across all playstyles. Our aim is that each playstyle/role should feel viable around 4 cards slotted and specialized around 6. We are expecting this change to require significant adjustments to our existing Codified patterns, so we are going to take our time to ensure we do this right.

We are planning to rework our Terrain and Pathfinding system to be more compatible with essences and other aspects of our existing game.

Throughout the year we will introduce new Projects, Designs, Wild Patterns, and Corruptions!
